We found out a little while ago that our precious unborn grandson has Down Syndromes. He is due in 6 weeks time and i cant wait to meet him. He also has some health issues with his heart which will require surgery at a later date. Its been a very worrying time and even tho we have had a few negative reactions which can be disheartening, mostly people have been quiet supportive.

Today a woman visited us and gave me a copy of the below.

HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD

A meeting was held quite far from Earth!
It's time again for another birth.
Said the Angels to the LORD above,
This Special Child will need much love.

His progress may be very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show.
And he'll require extra care
From the folks he meets down there.

He may not run or laugh or play,
His thoughts may seem quite far away,
In many ways he won't adapt,
And he'll be known as handicapped.

So let's be careful where he's sent,
We want his life to be content.
Please LORD, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.

They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play,
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.

And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for their gift from Heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild,
Is HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD.

He has to be delivered in Brisbane closer to the heart specialist just as a precaution. The doctors thought there were some other health issues and he may not survive but a scan 2 weeks ago showed this isnt the case. Even tho he isnt totally out of the woods just yet things are better than first thought.

Wonder if he will call me crazy grandma like the rest of the grandkids:eek::2fun::2fun:

Gibbo, a wonderful poem that really touched me, and my thoughts are with you and all your family. On the plus side, he will be blessed with having a 'grandma' like you - the lad is on a winner already.

Thank you Brian.

It is a touching poem. The lady who gave it to me also has a daughter with DS. Im going to frame the poem for my son and daughter in law.

Hi Gibbo

Congratulations from Barbara and me to all concerned. Is that child going to be spoilt rotten.
Barbara's nephew has a downs child. She has brought a great deal of happiness to the whole family, which by far outweighs the problems. We follow her progress on the net as they live in Ireland, and find although she is a little shy with strangers, she a loving, happy child

Gibbo, wonderful news, my heartiest congratulations to all the family, have fun and pleasure for the next five years, because after that you'll have a computer whizz-kid who will take over your computer!
Best wishes to you all.
Brian
