Just thought I'd introduce myself, my name is Carol, I live in East Lothian ,Scotland. I have been trying to trace my grandmother and her family for about a couple of years now, not getting very far I have to say! anyway I hope to be chatting to you all and pick up any tips.

I do not Know why you have to go through so maNY questions and personal details just to speak to people who feel the same. It has taken me ages to just get here. I know there has to be security but why can't they just ask me my name and age and what Iwant to ask you people. By the way whats all those funny things at the side of thje page

Sorry, but as you say we have to have security to not only protect the website - but also to protect you! Just from the forum itself, we have over a hundred "spam" emails and false attempts to get onto the forums, many from robots or bots. These try to get onto the site to spam the members and to get their email addresses, so even if I apologies to you directly, I don't in regards to protecting the site or you!!
But once you have confirmed your email & joined the site - its worth it, I am sure.

By the way whats all those funny things at the side of thje page

Can you explain more or send a picture / screen grab?
