Hello, my name is Rosemary Brown (nee) Berwick, and I am trying to find some of my early ancestors. My first ancestor to arrive in Tasmania was a John Berwick who married Margaret Fitzgerald in Tasmania.I believe John's parents were Daniel Berwick and Mary Ann (nee) Cooper. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who may be able to help me confirm this and add to it.
Looking forward in anticipation, yours Rosemary

The marriage has John as 'Free' and Margaret as a convict. ??

If John was a convict then it may be possible to confirm his parents depending which of the four different convict records have survived -
Conduct Record, Description List, Ident, Appropriation List.

??
Trial: 28 April 1824
Ship: Mangles
Departure: Portsmouth, 13 July 1824
Arrival: 27 October 1824
(NSW to Tasmania Eclipse)

Thanks so much Dave, some of that information I already have. I am trying to go back to earlier dates and parents of Daniel Berwick. I have seen some information suggesting the name of "Berwick" actually came from Barret, Barrett, Barrock, and Barwick. I would like to confirm which of these are actually my ancestors. Thanks again Rosemary

I can't find anything in Trove around his death to say where he was born.

I notice two trees with the Norfolk birth.

The convict John Berwick per the ship Mangles is the John I am researching, he is listed as the son of Daniel Berwick and Mary Ann Cooper, born in 1806 (not1803). Daniel Berwick was born 1768 and died 1822. I am interested in finding out more about his name. Thanks again in advance Rosemary
