Hi, my name is Caroline and I have just discovered this forum.
I have been researching my Family Tree for several years and have recently had to streamline it as it had expanded in all directions.
The fruits of my labours can be seen at www.pittcity.co.uk.
I have discovered many living cousins through this fascinating research and hope to find more through this forum.
I have also laid many family myths, rumours and mysteries to rest.
One mystery that remains is the middle name Hartley that was used in my grandfather, Henry Porter's family..........
I am also interested in the names Pitt, Bates, Slipper, Mundy and Leach.

Just to add to my last post, as I notice you have Richard's spouse a Mary Smith.

The record for Molly states mother as Mary Hartley, as does a record for a Richard born 1799 I think he probably died very young.
they are also recorded with mother as just Mary, then there are two more births in Barking with a mother Mary, Harriet b 1801 and Richard Hartley in 1803

I think Richard Mary's husband may be Methodist. There is a record for a birth 1779 died 1853 which could be him .

there is a marriage of Richard Porter to Mary Rebecca Hocker 20 jun 1830 at St Mary, Putney I don't know why Putney, but it ties in with the birth of their first child, Richard 14 Nov 1830
