Hi
Please could someone help me with a software problem.
My beloved LDS following disc sets are no longer working.

1881 British Census National Index
&
British Isles Vital Index

I have Windows 10 and they don't work!
I get the following error message when I try to access the viewfinder.

Error 339
'RFVOL~1.OCX'

Looking at the LDS site details for the CD, the system requirements don't say it wont work with Windows 10.

Unless anyone knows otherwise, it may be a case of contacting LDS direct.

Also, CD's do wear out. They do not last forever.:(

I have over 60 parish regs on CD, and the first thing I do is copy them a few times from the original. Then I have spares.;)

So in essence, I have over 180 CD's of parish regs.:eek:

Steve.:)

If you do a search on the web, you can load all the Cd's onto your hard drive and run it all from there!
I have it running on my PC using win 7 on a virtual XP PC (trouble is it will only work on win 7 pro or Ultimate.

Peter

All the 1881 info is available for free on https://familysearch.org/
Instructions to install the LDS CDs on a hard drive are available on my website at
http://tinyurl.com/oxcah6f

Note they WILL run on Windows 10, though some 64 bit systems do create further problems. It should also be noted that the online familysearch 1881 census is not complete as it does not contain the Scottish regions (The LDS was denied permission to provide those online.

Cheers
Guy
