I am researching family history on behalf of an elderly gentleman who is trying to locate the graves of his parents. He has very limited information with regards to his parents. I only have the information from his full birth certifcate. I HAVE NO DEATH DATES!!!
Does anybody out there have any idea how i can locate further info without a death date????
I have made so many phone calls to various places and they all require a death date.
please please please help me as i really wish to help this gentleman so he can pay his last respects to his mum and dad.

p.s i do have the cemetery's for them in london but the offices there need death dates. short of looking at every single grave i am out of leads!!!!

Do you have the parents names and/or area they lived in? How old is the gentleman you are trying to help? Did he know his parents? We need a little more info.
welcome

Hi and Welcome, welcome First how old is the "old" gentleman? Does he have his birth certificate showing his parents names and where he was born? That is your starting point and father's occupation? 1911 Census may help if he is very elderly. Electoral Rolls also may help. Does this gentleman have siblings? Any idea of their last known place of abode? Definitely need to fill in some gaps here. Cheers

Firstly, I would gather all the information you do have. depending on the age of the gentleman you may be able to find some links on census returns, well maybe the 1911 ( which in turn would enable you to get an idea of year of birth and also the area the family were living/born in.
When you've gathered some information you may be able to go to your local archives and search through records for burials etc.Good luck and I really hope you find what you're looking for.:)

Morning and thankyou for the replies here thats great!
I have obtained a copy of his full birth certificate. The gentleman I am helping is called Lawrence O'Connor date of birth 20th August 1932. His father was Cornelius O'Connor his mother Florence May O'Connor. His fathers occupation was an Engineer Labourer. A member of the family said that his mother was buried at East Finchley Cemetery and his father buried at Kensal Green. For complicated reasons I am unable to contact the family member who gave this information to his home carers.

thanks

That's brilliant that you have a bit more information. It'll take a bit of time but if you can search death indexes (make an educated guess for the year), you will be able(hopefully) to find the year of death. You can then take this to central archives and search for burials. :)

Hi
I have only been able to find the two births posted by Oznannie. Donald's ref is Jan/Mar Qtr 1934 Pancras ref 1b 122, also mother Smith

The only death I could find is for Florence May Oconnor born 9/5/1895 died 1990 aged 94, Camden ref 14 1738

I cannot find a marriage between Cornelious O'connor and Florence May Smith, or any other Florence May.

It makes me wonder if they married and if so was it in Ireland, although I can't find one there with the limited access I have.

Hi,
Florence May Smith abt 1887 Clarkenwell London, parents Henry George Smith & Louisa Ann Edwards. Married Cornelius born 1885 Clerkenwell London-his parents were Cornelius 1856, Sarah Knowlden 1854. They married 1873 Lambert London. 6 children listed as "living". 1 child- Charles Leoanrd Henry St. Thomas O'Connor
born 1916, died July 1,1985-68 yr old,- married Eleanor Jenny Hardy 12/25/1938, St. Luke's Church, West Holloway, Islington - they had 1 child listed as "living".
I found this info on the "O'Connor Tree" - don't know how old the info is for the children to still be "living". Sorry there are no death dates listed.

Hi
Great news for you. I would suggest as Ellie has in a previous post that you now try the census records which will give you more info and some more leads to follow - great fun isn't it?
Cheers
