My ancestor may have came from Great Britain. He supposedly left the country after the 30 year's war. He immigrated to a small little French village named, Blies-Ebersing. His name is Henri Porty, but his surname could be spelled like Porte/Portier/Borde, etc. I was just wondering how I could find out more information about him. I am in the United States of America, so I am unable to travel to the United Kingdom and do a manual search myself. Please tell me how I could learn more about his orgins, and where he came from. Thank you. He was born around 1627 in Great Britain, and he died on February 7, 1710 in Blies-Ebersing.
