Thank you for the welcome Gibbo, the info i have is ....

Martin Beck Brown, born 4/3/1927 in 6 Wharf street Stockton on Tees.
mother name was Hannah Brown (no age )
fathers name James Brown( possibly born 1888 but in Glasgow)

I cant find a marriage certificate for Hannah and James or a death certificate either,as i said apparently died in child birth.

My grandfather Martin was told (or believed that) he was born in Redruth Cornwall.

Thank you in advance for anyone who takes the time to read my post and any offers or suggestions of help on where to go from here.

Hi Bluey,
just for anyone that can help, here is his birth:

Name: Martin B Brown
Mother's Maiden Surname: Beck
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1927
Registration district: Stockton
Inferred County: Durham
Volume Number: 10a
Page Number: 151

possible though, Beck could be her maiden name but she could have married before James Brown, so possibly look for marriages for James Brown around that area/time to a Hannah .....

Was there any other children born to James?
regards
Val

That's the only Brown birth in the index 1920 - 1930 RD Stockton with mother's maiden name = Beck

Brown is a name that would not be out of place in Redruth. I have one in my tree.

There does not appear to be a death in the area in early 1927 as Brown or Beck.

Thanks Bootzy, Daveham9 and Gibbo,

My grandfather was an only child,no siblings that he was aware of or that i am aware of but im new to all this and im going between scottish and english records.

i couldnt find a death in the area either so that why i wondered if they moved to scotland after martin was born

I cannot find the paperwork i had for martin,(i had copies) might have to go down the route of getting a hard copy,at the moment that isnt an option.

Maybe the local archives / library might have a death or funeral notice which could give more information.

Have you thought that Hannah may have been a widow when she married James Brown? Then her surname would not have been Beck when she married but when Martin was born she would give her maiden name as Beck.

Bluey who raised Martin? And did James ever remarry? Just wondering if someone else raised Martin if there would be any records anywhere and if James did remarry his marriage cert. should state whether his a widow etc.

Hi Gibbo,Martin was raised by his father James and he never remarried,he lived with Martin and his wife until his death in 1959.
