Hi

I'm at a bit of a loss and hoping someone may be able to help me. I have a 10 x Great Grandfather named Israel Gue (sometimes spelt Giew) on records. He married a Grace Lane in Gussage, Dorset in 1654. So I am guessing he was born in the 1630's? I cannot seem to find any information on his birth place or date or parents.

Maybe it's too far back to find any of that information, I'd be very greatful for any help.

Many thanks

Do you think that may be Israel's Father?

I was a little confused on the naming. I thought Israel may have been Jewish but then he had his children baptised so thought not.

There’s and Isaac Giew christened 9 Sept 1635 - Gussage All Saints Dorset - parents Isaac and Elizabeth. Googled the name Isaac, related names - Izzy, Ike, Zac, Israel, Abraham. Could Isaac and Israel be one of the same? This was from familysearch.

I'm not too sure, it could make sense as Israel called one of his children Isaac.

Israel has been confusing me for over 3 months :ROFLMAO:

There’s a burial Oct 1 - Gussage Dorset for an Isaac Giew. Is it Isaac snr or jnr?
I can find a Israel Gew, Gue or Giew buried Feb 1692 Gussage, All Saints.

Do you think he would've been recorded everywhere as Israel if his birth name was Isaac? Was that something people did back then?

Hi,

I missed out the year which should have been 1635. Now amended. Is this the Isaac’s family born 1635? See Link.
if the 1635 burial is for the infant, then there not the same persons.
Hi Julie

I’m not too sure, Israel’s Son (9x ggfather) Isaac married a Mary Whitaker but the 1635 would seem too early. I think the record in the link you provided is them. Isaac and Mary had a son called Izaac which is a descendant for me so he definitely didn’t die as an infant.
