JAMES TOMPKINS was born about 20 May 1800 in Buckland Ripers, Dorset, England.
ANN GUY (James's wife) was born about 1804 in Buckland Ripers, Dorset, England to Ralph Guy and Elizabeth
Bagg .
James Tompkins aged 25, married Ann Guy, aged about 25, on 20 January 1830 in Buckland Ripers, Dorset,
England. They had one son:

Thomas Harold Tompkins in Abt. 22 August 1829 in England
.

This is the information that I have received form the family Gedcom. I'd like to go back further than they have. Although some of their record are not proven or incomplete. Any and all information would be greatly welcomed. Thanks and God Bless

I have your family I think with a lot more children than one. Thomas Harold is elsewhere as an apprentice but listed in Broadway next village but still in Weymouth district in 1841
James aged 30 (birthdates are never very accurate in 1841)
Anne 30
Robert 11
Charlotte 8
Jane 6
Elisabeth 4
John 1
James is a Miller something (sorry can't read it) They are all Dorset but 1841 doesn't give birthplace.

Thank for your info
Helps with calculations.

If this helps Thomas Harold married Lovisa (Louisa) Doty in the united States.
Lovisa was born in New York in 1838. they had numerous children, But the first was Ortentia Tompkins Born in 1856. in the 1860 US census shows the family in Wisconsin at this time. Have validated most of the information I was given on the Tompkins in the US.
Have plenty of down line to share, just not enough Ancestry.
Hope this help with any more information.

Again thanks for your help

Hi LMSLLC!
I know this might be a few years too late, but I was wondering if you had been able to find any more information about the Tompkins line?
Thomas was my great-great grandfather. After coming to the US, James died and Ann remarried. It seems there were tensions at home relating to the new union and Thomas left and never returned. He never talked about his family and we have no knowledge of who his siblings were. I had previously been able to find a Robert Tompkins born 16 May 1830 in Buckland Rippers, which I assumed was a younger brother, so was excited to find the names of four other siblings in this thread. I was wondering if you had confirmed any of the info given in the previous post or found anything else?
Anything more would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!

James and Ann (guy) Tompkins, Hasn't paned out to be a link as of yet, but have made progress with research through other lines of Tompkins, at present i do have a site at My heritage com that has current info of our years of research for the Tompkins, that is not all confirmed but very close to being on the right track. I am from the line from the Thomas Tompkins line from Wisconsin. also been in touch and collaborated with family members of the Jesse Tompkins line. further more i can also be reached through the site mentioned above to email on file there. Have a great day and hope to hear from you. LMSLLC

Thank you so much for the quick reply! I'm pretty sure I found the right tree on the website you mentioned--I just sent a message to you on there, so hopefully that gets to you and not a different relation :)
