Hello, everyone! I am researching my maternal grandfather's family. My grandfather's name was Archibald Alfred Richard Winsor. He was actually born in Suffolk, but his father came from Devon. His father's name was William James Winsor born about 1851 in Ipplepen. William James married a Mary Ann Veale at Newton-Abbot, I think. They were married in 1872. I found the family on the 1881 census living at Kessingland, Suffolk but they moved back to Newton-Abbot, Devon some time before the 1891 census because they are found living in Newton-Abbot. What I am actually looking for is information on the first 2 children of William James Winsor and Mary Ann Winsor. Their first daughter was named Frances and she was born at Devonport in 1873 or 1874. I can find no record of her on the 1891 census so I'd like help with that. I can't find a marriage or anything. Also, in 1891 the daughter, Violet Winsor, born at Portsea in 1875 or 1876, is found at the Devon-Exeter Hospital for the Sick and Poor. After that I cannot find her anywhere either. Also, someone found the family on the 1901 census living at Marldon, Devon. By this time William James has remarried and there are 5 more children. If anyone can help me trace Frances Winsor and Violet Winsor, I'd really appreciate it. thank you so much!

I have some Winsors in my extended family from that part of Devon eg Mary A Winser born Plymouth 1852 , daughter of Robert Winsor born 1826 Hartford Devon

The spelling of the name keeps changing so I suggest you need to search all the spelling variants as well especially Winser but also try Windsor

hope that is more successful

As there is no sighting of Violet and Frances on the 1901 census or the marriage index, I was wondering if they used their middle names and found these 2.

Birth

Ann(i)e Violet Winsor
Year 1875
December 1/4
District Portsea Hampshire
Vol 2b
Page 426 (Ancestry has transcribed the page as 425 this needs to be checked)

Marriage

Edith Frances M Winsor
Year 1897
June 1/4
District Alverstoke Hampshire
Vol 2b
Page 1126

These are the 2 grooms listed.

Walter James Bowers
William George Hubbucks
