The most interesting thing about the marriage is the note on the bottom. :2fun:

So it looks as though parents had died. Interesting that Joseph PATE was Henry's Guardian. The other bit of interest is the 2nd witness Ellen (nee FARMER).

I'm now going to type in the details of Ellen's (Helena Ann) death certificate which I decided to get at the same time as the above marriage not knowing she was a witness to it though.

Where to start?

Ok. Take eldest son and informant, Joseph Edward. We have no birth reg for him as PATE. Age on his mother's death certificate is 30 but age at his death gives a birth 2 years earlier and 2 years before his mother married:

Hard to know how accurate the the two estimates of age are but certainly there is no birth reg 1866-1869 for him as PATE.

There is this one but age for Ellen is a bit out if that is actually Ellen/Helena Ann (3 variations of her name appear on birth reg of children) FARMER. No other reference to an 'Ellen ADLEM' can be found. No other reference to a 'Joseph Edward ADLEM' can be found.
