Looking for any thing that may give a clue to his parents. Henry, (some times know as Henry James), was convicted at Reading Assizes , Berkshire in 1853 for Curtilage breaking & larceny. Sentenced to 7 years, departed on the William Hammond 3rd January, 1856, arrived WA 29th March, 1856. His age is given as 21 but in the 1851 census he was in Reading jail age 20, born Bray, Berkshire.
Just picked up this thread. I’m a great great grandson of the Henry dennis convict who was sent to Perth. I live in Perth and I’ve added quite a lot of information and photos on ancestry.com.au accessible to everyone, I’ve been struggling to get into the generation before Henry dennis the convict. I’ve posted info on all his convictions on ancestry. My dad raymond Henry dennis tells me his Aunty Alice Maud dennis said that the convict had changed his name from tannis to Dennis but I couldn’t find any record of this because all his records in reading was in the name of dennis so we thought it may have been a myth!
