Then Jack Brooks 1907 – he died 1919 - Redfern
1909 Angus A at Waterloo – Harry & Clara G – Angus Arthur Edwards died 25 March 1963 Qld – married a Doris Wills Squire, she died 22 Jan 1964 Qld parents Hilton Bell & Esther Wills Thompson
1911 Mary I at Waterloo – Henry & Clara G – died 1912 Redfern

Hello Val,

Thank you very much.

All of that throws up a few questions.

Inscription for Jack Edwardes
Cemetery: Perthville Uniting Church
Family Name: Edwardes
Given Names: Jack
Birth Date: 22 Nov 1907
Death Date: 13 Oct 1985
Age:
Remarks: son/Harry & Clara G; h/Georgina Victoria (née Furner); father
Portion:
Row:

That would seem to point to this marriage for Jack's parents:

1716/1905 EDWARDS HENRY - NUGENT CLARA G - MARRICKVILLE

Yet we have:
Birth 30397/1907 EDWARDS JACK B - HARRY - CLARA G - WATERLOO
Death 6144/1919 EDWARDS JACK B - HENRY - CLARA G - REDFERN

So no birth reg for the Jack who married Georgina.

Sometime between 1943 and 1949 the name changes:

1943 NSW Electoral Roll - Macquarie - Rockley
EDWARDS Jack, Shire Hall, clerk
EDWARDS Georgina Victoria, Shire Hall, home duties

1949 & 1954 NSW Electoral Roll - Macquarie - Georges Plains
EDWARDES Jack, Bathurst road, Perthville, shire clerk
EDWARDES Georgina Victoria, Bathurst road, Perthville, home duties

Thanks gibbo.

So that means one born after 1913 (Hugh) but possibly no 2nd marriage.

No mention of a son Jack.

Something does not add up. :D

We have a birth and a death for a Jack B. We have a cemetery inscription listing parents of the Jack in my tree as being Harry & Clara G.

Do we have 2x Harry/Henry & Clara G. ??

Clara died 1919 same year as Jack B. So maybe Clara died in childbirth and the child survived and was named Jack after the one who died 1919.

We need to find out how old the Jack who died in 1985.

With the reg. numbers can you tell who died first?

6144/1919 EDWARDS JACK B HENRY CLARA G REDFERN

14181/1919 EDWARDS CLARA G JOHN ISABEL REDFERN

Inscription reads as this:

Birth Date: 22 Nov 1907

No service record for a Jack Edwards born any time in 1907.

They use a different sequence for births and deaths but both start January and increase as the year progresses. The difference is large enough to probably say Clara died several months later.

Neither in Ryerson.

We know Clara was 17 or 18 July.

Also curious not even in same section.

Presbyterian 3B 0005726 EDWARDS CLARA G 17 Jul 1919 ?

Presbyterian 4A 0003413 EDWARDS JACK B 05 Jun 1919

It's more than 2 + 2 = 5 now. :D

The only Edwards in 3B and the only Edwards in 4A.

I have that burial for the Jack with a 1907 dob who married:

9272/1937 EDWARDES JACK - FURNER GEORGINA VICTORIA - JUNEE

and I have them together in E/R as Edwards and Edwardes,

and working from the parents as listed we seem to find that the son Jack they had died in 1919.

So how can it fit?

The 1907 birth date is wrong and that had another son after Hugh? But why no mention of this 2nd Jack or mention of sister-in-law Georgina ??

The birth date is correct but the parents as listed are wrong ??

Is it possible Jack was born 1907 in Victoria to a 2nd Henry/Harry & Clara G ??

EDWARDS Jack Obituary 18DEC1985 Publication at Bathurst Nursing Home, formerly of Wedderburn, Victoria, Wagga, Coolamon, Rockley and Perthville Western Advocate (Bathurst) 18DEC1985

1937 is the earliest I have him. He was a shire clerk.

1937 NSW Electoral Roll - Riverina - Coolamon
EDWARDS Jack, Shire Hall, Coolamon, clerk

1943 NSW Electoral Roll - Macquarie - Rockley
EDWARDS Jack, Shire Hall, clerk
EDWARDS Georgina Victoria, Shire Hall, home duties

He would not appear in E/R until 1928.

Gender: Male
Electoral Year: 1930
State: New South Wales

Subdistrict: Coolamon

Shire Hall, Coolamon, clerk

E/R is no help for us.

Only clue left is Wedderburn, Vic.

Hi All,
I'm having a problem with Trove at the moment so cant go find anything..
Off NSW BMDs
Clara G Edwards death 1919 Redfern has parents John & Isabel – she was born Newtown 1867 to John Nugent & Isabella, would make her 52 yrs of age.

A death for a John W B Nugent same parents 1933 Annandale NSW born in 1861 Sydney

Mother Isabella died 1923 Newtown – parents John W & Jean

John Nugent married Isabella Brooks 1861 Sydney

Was going to try and find Isabella Nugents death as well as son John's death 1933
regards
Val

Thanks for looking Val.

It's possible that family NSW is not the right one if we in fact have 2x Heney/Gary & Clara G.

It's looking more as if the Jack who married Georgina was born 1907 in Victoria.
