MR. OWEN O'NEILL'S DEATH.

The father of Mr. Denis O'Neill, of Young;. who is described as Goulburn's oldest resident, Mr. Owen O'Neill died at Kingsdale on Monday morning. He was 102 last January, and had spent 65 years in the Goulburn district. He came to Australia in 1857 from County Cork (Ireland) having obtained a settlement at Gurrundah. However, on arriving in this country, he came to Goulburn and secured a small mixed farm near Waterhole Creek. Ho also became actively engaged in farming and grazing pursuits in other parts of the district. His wife, who came out from Ireland with him predeceased him by about thirty years. For the past thirteen years Mr. O'Neill had been leading a retired life. He retained his faculties practically to the last. The old gentleman leaves a family of ten—six daughters and foursons. The daughters are Messrs. J. T. Taylor, Kingsdale; Mrs. H. Heffernan. Glen Innes: Mrs. J. Coves, Gurrundah: Mrs. J. Earald, Wogga: Mrs. P. Callonan. Perth (W.A.) and Mrs. T. Snack Gurrundah. The sons are—Messrs. Jeremiah, Temora; Owen, Gurrundah: Peter, Cootamundra; and Denis. Young. The interment took place at Breadalbane.
