Yes, I noticed that. His father William was a blacksmith.

Marriage has 'full age' for Henry but he was not.

I can't find the right William Bell in TROVE.

Just back from supermarket and off to library after lunch.

Oh.

The Riverine Grazier (Hay, NSW : 1873 - 1954) - Tuesday 4 January 1887 p.2
DEATH OF MRS CARTER.
A magisterial inquiry was held at the Courthouse on
Monday, at eleven o'clock, before Mr Coroner Pearce,
on the body of Mrs Maria Carter, when the following
evidence was taken : —
Dr Casey deposed : Yesterday morning I went in
company with Sergeant Harper and Constable Pass-
field to about half a mile beyond Mungadel home-
stead, where we found the body of a woman in the
river. The body was caught on a snag ; after some
trouble we landed the body on the south side of the
river. I recognised the body as that of Maria Carter,
having at one time examined deceased after her hus-
band had assaulted her. The body was very much
decomposed and appeared to have been in the water
for some eight or ten days.
...
William Carter, deceased's husband, deposed :
I last saw my wife alive on Tuesday, the 28th ult, ...
About twelve o'clock on Sunday last I heard that a woman had been
found drowned. I went to the river, and identified the
body as that of Maria Carter, my wife, She was
about 45 years of ago. I have three children. We
had been married 23 years.
...
Sergeant Harper deposed : ...
said that 'she wished she was dead.'
These were Mrs Carter's last words to me.
I found nothing on the body but a
wedding ring and twokeepers.

The finding was that Maria Carter was found
drowned in the Murrumbidgee river, on the 1st of January.

Body appeared to have been in water for 8 to 10 days and husband last saw her on 28th yet finding on 3rd was that death was on 1st.

Also curious that there is a death reg when an inquest had taken place.

Married 23 years so around 1864.
