I'm looking for military information on Herbert Eaton born 1871 in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. He served as a horseman in the Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards. Can anyone help me with this enquiry please?

There is a Herbert Eaton birth St Johns Suffolk enlisted at 18 in 1889 6th Dragoons – reg no: 3037 b 1871 UK Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Soldier Service on An..

He must have only served a short while as he was back home and on 1901 Census as a coachman with wife Rose and young son Herbert.



Found his record on Findmypast

He says also applied prior for 3rd Suffolk Regt but found med unfit.



Recalled to Army service under special Army order 7 Oct 1899 discharged 31 Aug 1901 having been found medically unfit for further service.

In 1939 he may be in Winchester , Hampshire.
Herbert Eaton b 1871. Wife transcribed as Caroline R Eaton b 1876.
In 1911 they are in Cobham, Surrey with children ...
Herbert b1898. Brighton' Sussex. Occupation: Horse Boy.
Frederick b1902. Ewell, Surrey.
Lily Victoria b1907. Sutton, Surrey.

Herbert. Occupation: Motor Driver.
They married at Steyning, Sussex.

There maybe another son Edward b1913 Epsom, Surrey.
