My Great Grandfather was named Job Herbert Harris, whilst researching I dicovered that he was really born Job Herbert in LLanrystdd in Cardiganshire in 1854, his mother was not married her name was Mary Herbert.
She came from LLansandtfried the next village along, her parents had a farm in this village called Tyll Bach Farm. She went on to have another boy called William who was born in LLansndtfried in 1859, I do not think he ever changed his mind. Her mother died in the 1840's her name was also Mary her father was David Herbert, he died in Newquay at the age of 91,he had remarried a lady named Hannah.
I would love to know more about William and maybe if any one knows who Job's father may have been or why he changed his name to Harris.
He came to Birmingham in 1871 and married in 1876.
I apologise for the terrible spelling of the welsh names

Hi Jackia,

I have read your post (you've not been forgotten). Came across Job Herbert born abt 1853 with David and Hannah but he is down as their son also found him on other census's, think I may have found William , but got to go shopping now so will have a look later on.

Thank you Julie, I know who this Job is, he is the son of David and his 2nd (or not) wife, William I think was in service in Wales in 1871, but by this time my Job had come to Birmingham ( well Foreshaw Heath actually) and was in service but was calling himself Job Herbert Harris.

Hello Julie
I have been away on Holiday to Dorset so could not answer straight away, I do not think this is my William Herbert, I do feel sad about William being left there when Job moved off to Birmingham, I do hope he did not change his name so that William could not find him.
I do ont know why his Grandfather did not take them in when their mother died, pehapes he did not approve of them as they had no father.
I do not think I will ever answer the mystery of the name change
