Sorry Gerard. I just assumed that a lot of people nowadays do it on-line. I've never applied via snailmail, so I'm in the dark on that one.
Thanks Gerard.

Just in case Libby.

Name: Herbert Sidney Millward
Year of Reg: 1907
Quarter of Reg: Oct-Nov-Dec
Dist: Warrington
County: Cheshire, Lancashire
Volume: 8c
Page: 223

Now you have both choices.

Steve.:)

Not sure if this is your man, but the DOB seems right.

Death.

Name: Herbert Millward
Birth Date: 18 Oct 1907
Death Reg Month/Year: 1982
Reg dist: Warrington
Inferred County: Cheshire
Volume: 35
Page: 1175

You will need a date of birth and a death cert to apply for his war records, if you have no regiment details.

MILLWARD, Annie Wife Married F 37 1874 Sydney N S Canada
MILLWARD, W Son Single M 17 1894 Labourer Halifax N S Canada
MILLWARD, R Son Single M 15 1896 Wire Works Barbadoes W I
MILLWARD, M Daughter Single F 8 1903 School Warrington
MILLWARD, A Son Single M 6 1905 School Warrington
MILLWARD, B Son Single M 4 1907 Nil Warrington
MILLWARD, A Daughter Single F 9 1902 Nil Warrington
7 children, one dead
N or V Son 13 Wynburg, South Africa - dead

living 20 Leonard St Warrington

The child born in 1907 has the initial B. Libbygirl is looking for Herbert Sidney, born in 1907. I wonder if B is him and was known as Bert

Not a problem Steve. As I prefer to order from local registration offices, on average I send for half a dozen certificates a week by snailmail. More local offices are providing the online services as time goes by. One point to note is that some local register offices do charge slightly more, most do not.

cheers,

Gerard
