Have just returned to researching my family tree after a two year break and have just found this forum, it took up so much of my time but was well worth the effort tracing unknown relatives living so close to me. I am researching the surnames Gilkes and Owen from the Oxfordshire area. It was made more interesting as my wife had the same surname as me before we married with our distant relatives living close to each other, I still haven't found a connection yet! The 1911 Census renewed my interest as I found that my grandmother had a younger brother which no one in the family knew about.

Thanks, I have posted on the deaths forum and had a fast reply from Steve. My grandmothers brother was Thomas Richard Edwin OWEN born 10/6/1901 in Hook Norton Oxfordshire and I have found a possible marriage JunQ 1926 Vol 8c page 283 in Warrington to a Florrie SHAW but I think I need the marriage certificate to confirm this. I now know what people can get me for my birthday this month
