Honora Hayes died 1862 Victoria

Unassisted
Oct 1855 SHIP - SHACKAMAXON
HAYES ANN 38
HAYES EDWARD 15
HAYES EDWARD 41
HAYES HONORA 11
HAYES MATTHEW 13

Going by the passenger list born around 1842. Death index states 33 years old in 1877 so born around 1844. Only 2 years out with the age.

If I recall correctly, there is an Edward in Wellington employed as a clerk, I was looking for something a bit more grand, his father being in such a position.

Oh!

It was Dunedin, not Wellington...

Edward Hayes
Gender: Male
Electoral Year: 1890
District: Dunedin
Region or Province: Otago
[Add: Princes St., City Hotel. Occ: Clerk]

Probably better, on South Island where Matthew was..

Yeah, was only going by Barbara's details and the comment about him being a bank manager at 40. These things do get mistaken as we've seen before.

Ok Geoff catch you later.

My heads all done in. Hope you can follow that clear enough Barbara.
I'll go through it all again tomorrow.

Re the age and the obit:

Their son, Mr. Matthew Hayes, who also
died many years ago, was for a long time
connected with the Kilmore branch of the
Colonial Bank of Australasia as accountant
and manager, which latter position, he held
about 40 years age.

It reads more correctly if that was 'ago' that is mid 1860s.

Can't see Sarah in the E/R's after William's death. If she was living with someone else, perhaps she wouldn't be found, the E/R's only appear to have the head of household around that time

That is, I assumed she would be living with her parents after Matthew's death.
