Hi Everyone

First I am a complete novice, only started to investigate my family tree 3 weeks ago, when an uncle left me a cutting book of old newspapers which related to my grandma's family, especially my great grandad & grandma, James & Sarah Woodend (married 1863)

I have obtained more info ie BMD fron ancestry.co.uk, but would like to look at a 1841 census. Any idea's. The 1851 census is causing me confusion as
James Woodend born Ulpha, Cumberland should be correct, but is showing the
incorrect mother & father names.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Try looking them up by using the parents names, there may be more than one james, also put james name in with abt birthdate and county they will show all that may fit, also you may never know but he may have been working or with another relative when the census were done. I have also seen census that the last name was spelt wrong, but if you look at the actual hand written copy you can see where the mistake may have been. I think this is what you were asking but if you would like me also the try looking for you. Just supply the information that you know and I will gladly help look for you too

have you tried looking on the www.familysearch.org website. I found this
James Woodend
Christening 25th Feb 1838 Ulpha Cumberland
Father James Woodend
Mother Elizabeth
They also have a James Wooodend on their 1881 census
Had a look at the 1841 census and there are other James Woodends as previous message you need to try and track the parents.

Father James Woodend aged 30 occupation Butcher out of county
Mother Elisabeth aged 30 of the county
Joseph Henry aged 5 of the county
Thomas aged 1 of the county
Lancashire, Ulverstone, Kirkby Ireleth, Broughton West,Broughton Square
Is this them?
