how can you find out if ww2 medals were received

Walter Bollands

My grandfather was in WW2, how can you find out if ww2 medals were received

( Corps Royal Artillery Light Anti Aircraft )
Army Rank Gunner (Equating to Private )
( Army No 1482498 )

Any help would be great

You can make enquiry here at the veterans Uk site http://www.veterans-uk.info/medals/claiming.html
You could also go direct to the Ministry of Defence Medal Office https://www.gov.uk/the-ministry-of-defence-medal-office

If he has not received them they will help you with the process or if they are now lost, replacements can be purchased.

I think he would have received or be entitled to these medals at least.

War Medal 1939–1945
1939 to 1945 Star
Defence Medal

Depends really on where he fought, he would then receive various Campaign Medals together with the three I have listed above
