Hi everyone,
I am from Texas, USA, but my family, O'Dell, Odell originated in the UK around Newport-Pagnall (?) and supposedly landed here, the USA, about 1634. I pretty much know the movements here in the colonies, up to how I came to be in this part of Texas, but know absolutely nothing about the family in the UK. Hopefully, I can learn some things here with you guys.
My hobby is searching antique shops and auction houses for old family Bibles. I acquire them only if there is some family information written inside. Then, I start my research and attempt to unite the lost family Bible with a direct descendent. I have accomplished this twice so far this year, once here in the States, and once located a family in the UK. I do not profit, I only ask for the exact amount I paid for the Bible and postage to send it home. I have a book now, though it is not a Bible, that has lots of info on a soldier with the Royal Field Artillary in The Great War, World War I, written on a blank prelim of the book. Looks like it was written by the soldier who was a Gunner. He put all his enlistment and discharge info down as well as the fact that he spent 3 years and 7 months of his enlistment in France. His name was Henry Charles Jacobs. Anyway, I am happy to be here and hope I can learn and share with you all. Thanks.
