Since I have been researching my family I have found some interesting things. MY G/gfather was the only one of his family to come to Australia. I have had to do nearly all my research through sites. One thing that was said to me was that it was possible my family came from France. the name gloyne is whom I am tracing. Wondering if anybody has any ideas how to look for this name in huegonots? precious :)

What makes you think its French. I did a quick search myself for the name and found the biggest number are from either Devon and Cornwall or Ireland. In Ireland there is also McGloyne i.e. son of Gloyne. Family search turned them up mainly in Devon, a lot in Canada, various Irish immigrants in USA, some in India, some in New Zealand and one in Wales. Could it be a Celtic Name given that all the areas in Britain would have spoke Welsh or Gaelic?
