I am from the UK and my father and I have recently begun trying to study our lineage but have become unstuck with Hugh McKay. As far as we know, he was a Blacksmith Striker who came from Barrow In Furness and we know the address he lived at - we are trying to find a marriage certificate for him and I discovered a Hugh McKay who was a Blacksmith Striker who lodged in Barrow In Furness in the 1890s and we are going by the assumption it is the same individual.
However, when we try to find marriage details, we are coming up short. We know that Hugh had a son called Martin, born in 1882 and Martin's mother was called Annie McLean who became Annie McKay when she married but we are struggling badly to find any further information - any advice that could be given would be so greatly appreciated.
