Saturday 15 April 1916

Mrs.C.W. Wildermuth, an old resident of the Nundah district, passed away on Saturday last. The deceased lady, who was 87 years of age, was the widow of the late Mr. David Wildermuth, and arrived in Queensland with her husband in 1863, and after working on a numher of stations in the pioneering days she and her husband eventually settled in the Nundah district, where they acquired land which, they ultimately converted into a dairy farm. After the death of her husband in 1875, Mrs. Wildermuth conducted the property for a number of years, until failing health compelled her to transfer her interest in it to her sons, David and Henry etc etc

Soon there will be few of the very earlier pioneers left to tell us the story of those far away times when Queen-street was a track and the only vehicles a dray or two. Such were the conditions when the late Mrs. B. Ruhle arrived in Brisbane in 1853. Leaving Scotland by the ship American, she and her husband set out for this little known country, but he was not to see it. He died on the voyage out, and the young widow, with her babe in her arms,etc etc

I'm not sure either because the 1927 death has the name as Adam H with no parents listed. If he was 74 in 1927 then he was born Scotland abt 1847 and he arrived with his mother Barbara. She must have remarried soon after arriving. ??? Not that comman a name.

They must have left and returned in 1863 and he died on the return voyage. Then why a reg with B= Brisbane and not M= Marine ???

He must have died just before the vessel arrived. Is he buried in Brisbane?

Orkney Islands Church of Scotland Read& write both Husband died on the voyage

That is unusual. That film is the list as boarded so it should list all the passengers in sequence. The list on the second film which is not on-line has the details as inspected on arrival so it includes things such as the names of their parents and if living or dead, their health and if they had any complaints.

I hadnt been able to find a death index for Sarah in NSW or QLD. Did a bit more checking and i think she may have died on voyage. They arrived in 1852 and he remarried in 1853.
