THE LATE MRS. B. RUHLE.
Soon there will be few of the very earlier pioneers left to tell us the story of those far away times when Queen-street was a track and the only vehicles a dray or two. Such were the conditions when the late Mrs. B. Ruhle arrived in Brisbane in 1853. Leaving Scotland by the ship American, she and her husband set out for this little known country, but he was not to see it. He died on the voyage out, and the young widow, with her babe in her arms, etc etc
