Thanks gibbo.

Coincidence they both married soon after arrival after losing a spouse on the voyage out.

Was that Jemima?

I think is was Jemima. In her death notice it has Cragie so im assuming she was born from Barbara's first marriage. I cant find a death index for her tho.

No mention on shipping record of an infant or one born vessel.

I can't find a death in Qld. index for her. You would expect something in the newspapers then.

Gottfried 37 Vinedresser Archelberg Wirtemberg Johann & Catharin both dead Protestant Both None Good None
Sarah 38 - Archelberg Wirtemberg Godfrey & Sarah mother dead father living at Archelberg Wirtemberg Protestant Both None Suffering from Scurvy

CRAIGIE Barbara 26 'America' 1853 Moreton Bay Reels 2136, 2464
Arrived 11 Jan 1853
Craigie Barbara 26 Wife Orkney Islands Scotland ChofS Both - Husband died on the voyage
Reel 2464
James 31 (Died on Voyage)
Barbara 26 Dom. Servant Orkney Isles Jas. & Mary Craigie in Orkney Presby. Both Cousins in ? Good None Husband died on Voyage

The shipping reel should be correct and I don't see Mary being written as a mistake for someone saying 'Barbara' so these must be wrong:

Barbara Craigie
birth: 5 July 1826
christening: 12 July 1826 Rousay & Egilshay, Orkney
James Craigie & Barbara Robertson

James Craigie & Barbara Craigie
24 Jan 1852 Rousay And Egilshay, Orkney

This looks like the family in 1851:

Piece: SCT1851/25 Place: Rousay & Egilshay -Orkney Enumeration District: 2
Civil Parish: Rousay & Egilshay Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: Rousay
Folio: 14 Page: 4 Schedule: 21
Address: Turbotail
Surname First name(s) Rel Status *** Age Occupation Where Born Remarks
CRAIGIE James Head M M 65 Chelsea Pensioner Orkney - Rousay
CRAIGIE Margaret Wife M F 63 Orkney - Kirkwall
CRAIGIE Barbara Dau U F 24 Agricultural Labourer Orkney - Rousay
CRAIGIE Hugh Son U M 17 Fisherman Orkney - Rousay

Perhaps the shipping reel does not have 'Jas. & Mary' but 'Jas. & Margt.' so I've put the image up on the Documents board.

I can't find anything in TROVE 1850-1900 searching 'craigie' and 'pentland' because I keep getting Pentland Hills in Victoria.
