I am looking for a guy who was in war any helps?

Hello. I am looking for some help or guide will be great appreciated.

I have a photo with the name and address on back of the pic it was took.

It was given to my granddad and I wanted to know who he was and possible to learn what both of them were doing in the war.

My granddad was Clayton Edward Burgin born in 1930 lived in Heanor, erbyshire.

This guy could be his friend - his name was R J Brown ( i know the surname was common) and the address was shown but will give later if needed. He was living in Lenton Abbey, Nottinghamshire and possible he was also in Sherwood Foresters with my Granddad.

Just a thought but have you tried the Sherwood Foresters museum its based at Nottingham castle and although they concentrate mainly with the 1st ww they ,when I enquired about my fathers WW2 records(he served with Sherwood`s)sent them to me,and with their help I was able to claim my fathers war medals.

If he was born in 1930 it is doubtful he would have been in WWII, though he may just have enlisted before the end. He would only be 9 to 15 years old.

He may have been in other conflicts such as India, Palestine, Malaya, Korea, Suez Canal Zone, Kenya, Cyprus, Suez 1956, Borneo, Vietnam, Aden, Radfan, Oman, Dhofar

Just re-read and see it was your grandad who was born in 1939 not his friend, but if their ages were similar the above stands.

Before you go to Nottingham,take a look at the museums site
