Hi all.

I am looking for my great grandmother Florance Ada Challis who was born in1903 and got married to James Arthur Long, and passed away in 1998. I am not able to find her in 1911 census and I was trying to go back to find her parent and my friend tried to find her but can't able to find her. In 1911, Florance would be about 8 years old.

Can anyone find her in 1911 or something ?

Thank you for your time.

Shelley

Hi Shelley,

No luck with the 1911 census for Florence. Did she have any siblings, I put district Maidenhead name Challis with say 1905 with 5yrs either way and some of them I couldnt account for in 1911. Might have been a remarriage for mum but the best thing to do is to obtain Florences marriage certificate which will confirm fathers name and occupation and her birth certificate will also confirm both parents. Another thought that dad may have been in the army.

May be worth checking out..
In 1911 there is a Leonard Emily Challis aged 7 in Wokingham Union Workhouse
Florence was married in Berkshire (Maidenhead) so I was looking for a Challis family in that county. If you look at the actual return the name is Florence Emily aged 7. Also with her are Arthur aged 11, Edith aged 33 single, and Alfred aged 65 Widower

dave

EDIT - FALSE ALARM, FLORENCE ADA IS IN BIRTH RECORDS AS WELL AS FLORENCE EMILY

Unfortunately it is wrong one, it is DEFFO Florence Ada Challis is right name, as she was still alive when I was born, right till I was about 13, she died in 1998. And I did going to her grave and her gravestone was her name that's which was Florence Ada long (marriage - Long) and her husband's name on it as well that's which he passed away in 1956.

And her maiden was Challis, as I was told, and it matched on ancestry.co.uk too.

But thank you for try your best. :)

Unfortunately I don't know if she have any siblings, and her husband James Arthur Long was passed away on Jan 1956. So she have been alone with children ever since... She had 7 children.

Thank you but it is DEFFO Florence Ada, not Florence emily lol...l so you got wrong family sorry lol ....

So I thinks it is only way to do for me to do is to order florance's birth certificate, as I know it is right name and middle name, and I also found her maiden via ancestry, and their marriage of James on ancestry too.

So u all agree that I should order her birth certification?

Thanks
