I Cant Find Ruth

Hello everyone,

A elderly friend of mine here in Australia is trying to find her cousin Ruth Lett and we have not been able to find anything on her. She was born in 1922 and was the daughter to John Lett and Elizabeth Driscoll. My friend is hoping Ruth may still be alive. We have found her birth reg. but no marriage or possible death. The last know address for her was in Redriff Estate Rotherhithe. Can anyone help please.

Just checking her birth index and she has a middle initial of C, do you happen to know what this stands for. If you haven't been able to find a marriage or a death I wondered if she could have used her middle name.

Hi Gibbo,

I looked in the marriage index from 1942-1959. There was one index missing on Ancestry so couldnt check that one. Just a suggestion could she have joined the forces and married abroad? perhaps a look on the overseas marriages on the findmypast site.

My friend has no idea what name the letter C stands for, she was also saying that the last know address of Redriff Estate was from about 50 years ago. Ruth could have left England and gone else where etc over the years. if Ruth is still alive she would be in her mid 80's now so i was thinking of checking out some retirement homes or nursing homes and seeing if that leads to anything. Thank you.

there's a website called 'whitepages.com' put in name and last known address and they may be able to late her.

Ruth Lett is my mothers aunt,my mothers name is Maureen Buck nee Davis,
my mother passed away in London in 2002,i heard storys as a child about John Lett,apparently he was a money lender and a boxer,he won the lonsdale belt,he was known as jack! i used to visit my " aunts" Ruth and Berth,as a child ,they lived in a groundfloor flat on the Redriff estate,just around the corner from my nan Davis,and her sister Aunt Esther,my nan also had 3 other sisters aunt anne, aunt Eileen,and aunt lil. as far as i know she is still living in West Kingsdown in Kent with her sister my aunt Berth. I am Living in Germany now but if you contact me i will gladly pass on their adress! PHONE NUNBER EDITED FOR SECURITY REASONS.
