My hubby was home sick for a couple of weeks and i think i have created a monster!! He had no interest in this family research stuff but when he saw what i was finding out on my family he wanted me to check a few things on his. We made a break through and we have spent more on certificates for his family in a week than what i had spent in a year! He has now gone back to work [probably to pay for the next lot of certs.] so i now have my computer to myself once again, well until he gets home anyway....

Oh no Gibbo, what have you done.

I'm sure he will revert back to 'normal'.

Buy him a Scalextric slot car set, that should distract him long enough for him to forget family research.

Hi Steve

I dont think he is going to go back to how it was. The devil is having to much fun and is now looking for some family gossip like what i have found it my lot.
I can just see him when he gets home, beer in hand and heading to MY computer and i will get stuck with dish duties again.

Hi Gibbo

Just the thought of my husband wanting to use the computer brings on a “wine attack”.
My god watching him type I almost want to put my head in a bucket of hot asphalt.
Fortunately he has his own hobby so I don’t get hassled too much.

Gibbo you will have to (in a nice way like I would) tell your husband all his ancestors have two heads or if you really want to get nasty (this has a better affect) tell him his ancestors were all Politicians, (not much difference with the two heads) this should put him off forever.
Finally there is only room for one person in a household to control the family tree and that is ‘YOU’

cheers

I envy you if I could get my husband interested then he could help me in the archives instead of dumping me at the door and coming back 3 hours later. I'm trying to get him interested in going to Cumbria and finding all the hotels his family ran but he isn't interested.

Hi Crankypants

It is a very painful experience watching him type on the computer and and if he has had a beer or 2 he sneaks a card game between granddad and the uncle. Telling him his relatives are politians would be really funny!!:2fun: I wont write what i think he would say about that.

Hello Duckweed

My hubby was never interested before, i woke him once at 4am when i got some exciting info come in and he just grunted and went back to sleep. I found out some more info this morning and needless to say another cert. has been ordered. Even tho he has taken a interest in it now i dont think he would help in an archive, he would just want the gossip. In all fairness i am helping him and enjoying doing it, actually it is good to have someone to yak to about it, and i can yak! But we might have to buy a 2nd computer.

Hello

So there is hope for my hubby's typing skills to improve!! at the moment he is still 2 fingers. the kids bought me my computer for xmas a couple of years ago so i would leave their computers alone and now that hubby is on mine i will have to get him one so he will leave mine alone. Now i know how the kids felt when i hogged theirs.[but i wont tell them that]
So you are going to England, i would love to go and see where my family etc lived, worked and played but i have a terrible phobia about flying that i am going to have to overcome first.

Hi Glen

I will pass the message on to him. My mother and my sister love flying and travel quiet a bit. I will have to swallow my fear and just do it! I hope your aunt can fill you in on some family history and stories of their childhood. My father and his siblings were all separated from when they were toddlers and the last few years they have all found one another, so between them there has been quiet a few trips from aussie to england. One of my aunts were here the other week so i finally met someone from dad's family. She is great and even tho we only had a few days together i love her to bit. She has the same sense of humour as me so i now know what side of the family i got that from. Have fun and enjoy your visit!!

Really Steve? How many of us addicts ever revert back to "normal"?
