do you have any details of the man in the photo?

according to family he is supposed to be my grandfather fred salt of staffordshire, but on searching military records I only found a record for his brother Harry. So, i'm still searching but quickly losing hope of ever finding such record.

my fred was born 1891 found him on the 1901 census longton staffordshire to john salt and hannah, brother harry and sister harriet hannah, also an elizabeth birks mentioned as daughter, I found his brother harry's record, but nothing of Fred record.

As an Airforce Brat, my husband believes that this is a Canadian Army Crest, no doubt, which Rank or Regiment is hard to tell ....maybe badge on chest would give you a idea of rank, etc ...you should be able to go to Canadian Government Archives(www.gc.ca) and find the WWI archives and may be you cud ask someone via that link...All Canadian Census are FREE...you do not have to pay....they are up to date to 1911 and trying for 1915 right now. USA has available 1940....go figure!
