Has anyone noticed that some images downloaded from A... are .j2k ? JPEG2000

I struck a few 1911 census images at the local library this afternoon and Windows Photo Viewer would not handle them.

I'll ask at the library on Friday or next Monday what they plan to do to get around the issue.

I have not got any to open. Irfanview does with a plugin. I could not save them to USB on the library computer.

Why JPEG2000 ? Well good quality with very good compression.

Thanks Peter.

There are about 5 file extensions for JPEG2000.

Also losses and non-lossey.

JPEG 2000 is an image coding system that uses state-of-the-art compression techniques based on wavelet technology.

Very clever coding system.

I don't have one yet so can't test the plug-in for Irfanview. (One I have always used)
