Re: Info please

Can't see army records on Anc. yet, but there is this on FMP [I don't have a full subscription]. 1911 suggests he's been in the Army, but you probably have that..

"DIXON REGINALD CYRIL 1886 — 1907 British Army Service Records 1760-1915 Thelnetham, E Harling, Norfolk, England"

Re: Info please

Yes to both.

Thanks Geoff

Didn't see anything on ancestry either

Prob because he survived or didn't die in the war

Re: Info please

Don't know why he would be refunded £9 in 1920 but it is written on his record, not just attached to it. Using the no. 161289 given for the refund, the WW1 Medal and Award Roll has :-

Name: Reginald Dixon
Military Year:1914-1920
Rank: Private
Medal Awarded: British War Medal and Victory Medal
Regiment or Corps: Royal Army Medical Corps
Regimental Number: 161289
Previous Units: 203748 E. Kent. R. Pte

so looks like he re-joined or was called up in WW1 and then transferred to the Medical Corps.

the service record mentioned in posts # 5 and 6 is on Find My Past (see post#3), search for Reginald Cyril Dixon under Military. ( five pages long, the last page has the info re the 1920 refund and WW1 service no.)
The other information is on Ancestry under WW1 Service Medal Award Rolls as Reginald Dixon , 161289. (i.e without the Cyril but with the number given in the Service Record.)
