Sorry to hear that Steve......hope that the floods start to recede soon and that all your family can return to some form of normality.

Regards as always.

Bit of a sleepless night but just got word this morning my 3 nephews in Toowoomba are ok.
I have another son at Gatton which is in heaps of strife, can't contact him.

Grandaughter at Pittsworth, bound to go soon.

I just didn't think it could rain like this, it's unbelievable.

People standing on rooftops Toowoomba, rescuers overwhelmed and can't get to them.

People trapped in cars and are under the water

Hi Steve
So sorry about your family and fellow ausie's distress. It is hard to appreciate just what affect it has on people caught up in it. I know it takes years to repair the damage. I do hope the worst is past and things start to get better soon
A sobering thought - if we get flooded, the whole of Leeds will be under water as we are at the highest point.
After two months of below freezing temperatures, we are due to get 15 degrees on Weds, the highest since October, a fair heat wave!!

Thanks Dave, Trouble is the rain is still coming with other states about to cop it.

There has never been anything seen like this before in Australia, 15 Years of harsh drought and now this,we have no idea when it's going to stop.

We have just received on telephone an emergency alert to evacuate our homes in Burpengary where i live, Caboolture, Morayfield and Pine River area's.

At this stage I think We will stay a little longer and pull out the boat.

Oz if you have been advised to get out .. GO!
Dont hang around mate, its not worth it.

Yes, and don't try to put everything in the boat.
Well i'll make sure my computer on the boat, i need to keep in touch, all roads closed, cannot get out by car.

If the water comes in the house that's when we will get in the boat.

We are well insured, flood and contents insurance for more than replacement value, something i took out over 12 months ago with a RACQ, a very reputable company.

We in South Aussie, wish you all the best, and are thinking of you at this time. South Australia's worry may be coming in a week or so when the flood water comes down the mighty Murray. Adelaide and outer suburbs are forecast for thunderstorms and between 20 and 50 mm of rain in the next few days, with much more forecast for further north of the state.
That's a lot of rain for us in January. The tv footage we are seeing from Qld. is heart wrenching, I've never seen the likes of it. We are all helping our fellow Aussies as best we can. It is a very tragic time. Your Premier,Anna Bligh has been on TV to advise people to please follow instructions, and don't panic or make emergency service personnel jobs harder than they are.
It's a bad time for many states.
My thoughts are with all those affected.

Thank you for your kind thoughts Joan.

One thing that will be good is the mighty Murray's problems might be solved, unfortunately at what cost to South Australia.

SA will become another major problem once the Murray roars, let's face it though she's only a stream in comparison to what she once was, this will help her get back on her feet.

To all in Oz afffected by the floods

My heart goes out to you all. Steve, I do hope that you do not have to get the boat out, but please do as you are told.

I have a very good friend in Marysville, who lost everything in the fires about 2 years ago. I have just received a photo of her new house with the garden looking beautiful. They always had a suitcase packed by the front door, just in case.

The TV news pictures are horrendous, and I hope that no one on this site is involved.

Please take care, and my thoughts are with you all

Maddie
