Hello, I'm Jose, I live in Crewe Cheshire and have been researching family history for a number of years now, but I seem to have hit a brick wall with my paternal grandmothers name.
I am married with 2 children and 4 grandchildren. We are all scattered around the British isles, from Cardiff to the Lake District and points in between!
Hoping there is someone out there who can shed some light on my dilemma.:)

Hi Janice,
I have Swarbrick relatives by marriage and in fact am going to a Swarbrick wedding at Hoghton Tower near Preston in December. I don't know anything about the family's background other than that Swarbrick is very much a Lancashire name.
Are you starting totally from scratch? If so you should check with all your older relatives to gather as much background information as possible and write it all down. Something that seems insignificant or even wrong now may be vital in connecting everything together later.
Also gather together copies of certificates, wills and and newspaper cuttings that may be in the family.
You say you want to follow your dad's family, what do you know about him and his parents? It will be easier for people to advise you if we know where you are starting from.
Good luck
Elaine

I'm Wayne Wright from Smithville Texas. I can trace my family to John Wright born 1710 in Orange County Virginia. I have done a DNA test and am haplogroup L1 m253. I would love to find someone matching that group in the UK. Maybe I could then find who was the first Wright in my line to migrate to America.

Hi there. I'm Christine Marnane from Melbourne. I live here with my 23 and 20 yo boys. I'm a music teacher and violinist. I grew up on a farm in Atherton, Far North Queensland. My family still lives there. It was 'settled' by my great grandfather early 1900's. He was born in Morpeth NSW in 1844 and his parents I believe came from Thurles in Tipperary. I am looking for a few things in my research with a lot of my relatives originating in Scotland as well.
I'm not quite sure what to do here but I saw some posts about the Marnanes and McLuckies and thought I could offer some information there as I am a direct descendant, and that I could get a little help from people with family connections and better research skills, so that is why I joined the forum.:)

Hello Christine and welcome to the Forum.

You may pick up an existing topic or start a new one if you have specific queries on Marnane or connected families.
