Yes, sorry should have done so before, but you get carried away reading others postings don`t you!.
I`m Paul living in Kings Heath in Birmingham UK, and I began looking into my family history, such as it is, just after my Father died in 2002. I managed to get hold of replica medals he earned during WW2 in the Royal Navy, and I still have his uniform which I have absolutely no chance of getting into again !!.
I can tell you that if you were desperate for the loo - you most definately would not want to be wearing those bell-bottoms, nightmare. I`m still trying to find out more on my paternal side, Cresswells, but at the moment the brick wall has been hit with great force, so I`m concentrating a little more on the maternal side of Yarnolds, with a certain amount of success so far, but I have to say, and I expect you would all know this, what a great feeling it is when -especially after struggling for a while - you find that illusive bit of confirmation or proof,that makes things fall into place. All the hard work and frustration seem worth it. Anyway, thats what I`m up to, and I would like to give a big Thankyou, to everyone who has so far taken the time and trouble to search through sites on my behalf, I hope I can return the favours sometime, cheers.

Hi everyone
My youngest son introduced me to this site because there are a few mysteries in my family tree. My maternal grandfather believed born in Kent, later moved to Hong Kong where he married my Portugese/Chinease grandmother. My Mother born in Hong Kong 1911 came to England with her parents when she was around 16. Some time after arriving in Gillingham, Kent my grandfather left, never to be seen again. We have at least two names for him Brown and Goldfinch but have been unable to prove anything about him so far.
I have been told that my Paternal grandfather Joseph Collins was an orphan living with an aunt who was tragically killed in a fire caused by a candle falling on her ballgown. He was then sent to boarding school and later left the school without a trade or money.
I hope to discover something of my two grandfathers.

I am a keen enthusiast in the research of my family history.
Once the bug gets you its hard to let go.
Working in the health service on the wards since 1988. Am married to Les with 2 grown up sons. I spend hours searching the internet for any records often forgetting the time if I get a lead.
I was born in Dorset althought the paternal side of my family Ford were all born in or around 5 miles of West/East Meon,Privet, West Tisted, Warnford,Petersfield Hampshire.
I found I knew nothing about my parents after their deaths or their backgrounds. So the search began. I am a member of Ancestry but still records do no exist with them to help me with my brick wall.
My paternal gran born Eliza Wild 1885 Fernhurst, father Joseph, and my maternal great gran Mary Wheatley born 1861, father John, Wellingborough, Northants who married Smith.
I have contacted many who have helped me in my search, but the brick wall continue even with the paid help of the record offices.
Have got Hampshire interests also in Greentrees, Pulingers, Tostefine, Holts.

Hello, everyone! I am of retirement age but work part time at home as book-keeper to our microbusiness. Times are very tough just now; my husband is a computer consultant (http://www.datareign.co.uk) but we haven't had any contracts for months. I was adopted as a baby and did not begin to seek my original parentage until after my mother's death - she lived to 88 so it was a long wait! I was lucky to have a very nice social worker help me at the start. I found that my mother had been English, from Derbyshire, and my father a married American who was over here during WWII and I was the result of their fling! I've had a lot of help from a distant US cousin but need to reorganise my data. I tried to download the Firefox Toolbar but it seems to be a Windows item and I'm using an Intel iMac running OS X. I love my Mac!

hi everyone ,my name is chris davage ,and i am researching my davage ancestry ,i have found a site that i think is top notch ,you just send your requests for years 1841 -1901 and he returns the photo copy of original census sheet ,i have managed to go back to 1763 from this site ,and he only charges £15.00 for 6 months supply as many requests as you like ,i highly recommend this site it is (harry@drumhouse.co.uk),anyway some thing about myself ,i have retired and took up the family research to pass some time it is now a desease that i cannot cure ,i live in waterlooville hants england ,on monday i am driving to dorchester in dorset to the history centre as that is where alot of davage files are ,we have 5 children the oldest 41yrs the youngest 31 yrs all left home ,but we get invaded most weekends with grandchildren and their parents ,you dont ever get rid ,it just grows by numbers ,all the very best to everyone researching their families ,chris davage.

I have sort of introduced myself, but not a full introduction. So here goes, Born in Prescot area in Merseyside,wrong side of 50 just!, married with three children, two older girls,one has left home flown the coop,funnily enough the younger of the two, and one still in Uni, they are Kathryn and Frances.The third member of the fold is our son Isaac, 10 years of age and football mad.My other and better half is Carole, we are both Complementary therapists and work part-time in one of our hospitals.I have also been a Gardener/organic grower for the past 25 years in different fields( SORRY ABOUT THE PUN)careers..I have for the last 10 years chipped away at different areas of family history,first introduced by my father, very cunningly left papers and photo's around, couldn't resist looking could I! then came all the Questions? and they still keep coming.In my son's own words a few years ago Dad you're a Genie something, a General with an olly on the end, you've got an ology like on the Tele, Oh!:biggrin: I wish.To put everybodies mind at rest and the rest of the family's, I'm a now definative 'Rellie Hunter 'according to my son. :biggrin: So to everyone in the same marvelous predicament I bid you greetings and best of luck with your searches kerrymac. Hi. My name is Kim and I have been trying to research the family on both sides, mine and hubby's for a long time. As my husbands family are from Jamaica and beyond, it is proving very difficult to find out any information. (either that or I am not doing it right)! My side is a bit easier all english - so far but not got back very far. Live in Essex, with husband of 21 years and 3 kids, 19,15,13. Thought as their ancestry is so varied it would be nice to pass the information on of the very many cultures I expect them to derive from. Any help appreciated along the way and I wish you all luck in your search - whatever you may find!

Have just moved back down under from Texas and it is not as I have not enough to do, made some enquiries about genealogy as my uncle is still going strong at 96. It turns out that after some research by my cousin our familey are descended not by free settlers as we were all brought up to believe but from convicts transported to Tasmania (where I was born) in 1820. It further turns out my great great great grandfather Joshua Clayton at the age of 58 was hanged in York on the 15 April 1820 for the crime of uttering 3 days before his son John Joseph Clayton aged 21 was transported to Hobart in Van Dieman's Land on the ship Maria. Here he married another convict Mary Grey and they had 6 children. They both were later pardoned when it was found that they had assisted the poor. So am starting on the arduous task of trying to discover a little more about Joshua Clayton in York and whether he had other family members, trial transcripts etc. My 96 year old uncle is very excited to hear all of this.

Any help would be appreciated.
