I've had a look on the GRO site for the Blackley children. I can find an Isabella reg 1859 with mmn Scott and I can find an Archibald reg 1861 mmn Neil. Can find the other sons born Liverpool.

According to the 1861 Census Janet was born in Scotland and there is a marriage on Scotlandspeople for a Thomas Blackley to a Janet Neil 7 August 1852 Paisley Middle

Make of that what you will!

Neil is correct.

I thought only my great grandfather's reg was missing but now two out of five makes little sense.

I bought a copy of this one to prove it was the right one. Many variations of the name.

In case you are not aware the 1861 Census also shows another son, John, born Scotland and by the 1871 Census Thomas is a widower. By 1881 he has married again.

The 1881, 1891 and 1901 census seem to show Thomas had remarried but I can't find the marriage or the death of Ann. Also three census show him born Paisley but he was born in Ireland.
