05/11/1821 MACINNES ALEXANDER - ALEXR. MACINNES/ISABEL MACQUEEN FR72 (FR72) M 115/ 20 6 Sleat

I can't find the marriage to Isabel or her death in NSW.

Page -
Presbyterian Baptisms solemnized in the Parish of Scots Ch of St. Andrew in the County of Cumberland in the Year 18
No. - When Baptised: 31 October 1837 When Born: 3rd October 1837 Donald - Alexander McInnes & Isabella McQueen Abode: Sydney Quality or Profession: Farmer By whom the Ceremony was performed: Revd. J. McGarvie

I also can't prove this is the right death for Alexander senior.

Death 6594/1872 McINNES ALEXANDER - JONATHAN - MARGARET - SHOALHAVEN * 22 Oct

Thanks,

Dave

You've probably seen this, but the Immigration Index just has Alexander, married, farm labourer and family.

Nothing metioned about Isabella.

This may be worth looking into..

Thanks Geoff.

I'll add that burial to my list.

Last week I checked Chatswood library and the indication was that the microfilm readers would be available this week. Turns out not to be the case.

McInnes Alexr. 36 Farm Labr 6 children * Engaged by Mr Brown at Illawarra - £30 per an incl. food

No mention of wife.

The library closes from 12 - 2 to clean the desks etc.

Don't know how you clean a film reader or rolls of film.

Yep, found a couple trees, they thought she had died at sea, no proof.. Also some info not listed in records, allegedly.

Could have died at sea.

No other baptism in NSW index. There is a note on the baptism record that I could not read last time I looked at the image.

Apparently conditions were very bad on the voyage, some women and some children suffered more than others.. There is a book about it, I've only read snippets. Apparently not all women were listed by name, it really needs a source or proof to say that. That said, I haven't seen a list with Isabella's name on yet.

It's a very early one and seems to be a bit unusual in that the employment and wages and rations were already organised. The vessel came from Isle of Skye so an agent must have gone there and arranged everything.

Yeah, have checked some of Alexander Sr's offspring listed in the trees for possible clues. Gillander McInnes d. 1865, mmn = Mcdonald.
