Hello,

I'll try to make this as simple as possible.
Searching for one arrival with all the family or 2 or 3 separate arrivals.

1. Isabella b. abt 1848 married in Queensland on 21 Sep 1876 using the name WALLACE. Not found yet in 1871. Don't know what name WALLACE or CAREY might be on shipping record.

2. Isabella CAREY (nee BORLAND) b. abt 1831 arrived in Queensland before 21 Aug 1862 because:

Birth 21 Aug 1862/B01369 Carey Margaret - John - Isobel Borland

3. John Wilson CAREY b. abt 1829 was a ship steward in 1861 - arrived ???

4. Other children Agness, Ellen, William, James, Janet and Mary - arrived or died young ???

Marriage 1900/C02255 Irwin William - Carey Janet

Death 1916/B23727 Irwin Janet - John Wilson Carey - Isabel Borland

Well, I'm not rewriting it. :2fun:

It seems John was a cabinet maker in 1851 census (not found yet - see census topic) but in 1861 he is not with family and Isabella listed as ship stewards wife. How long he remained a ship steward is unknown so he may or may not be with the others. I have evidence he worked as a cabinet maker in Queensland from at least 1873 onwards.

So far Isabella and Janet are the only children I know of in Queensland.

The name can be CAREY, CARIE, KERREY, ...

It's possible they arrived together.

Yes, Some born in Australia.

1868/B2555 Carey Agnes - Marius John Baptiste

1877/B5703 Baptist Agnes - Pillinger William Henry

Death 1923/B40111 Pillinger Agnes - John Wilson - Isabella

I wonder if that is correct - does not say John Wilson Carey. Agnes would be about 17 in 1868.

Are you still searching for details on when Isabella came to Australia? I'm one of her decendants and I have a photocopy of the ship's register with the details of Isabella Carey and family. Wallace was the surname of her first husband - not sure what happened to him. She then married John Wilson Carey and they moved to Australia with their children. I know they came here on the Whirlwind but I can't remember the date. I'll search out the document and let you know.
