Hello,

Isabella WALLACE b. abt 1848 d. 1909 Qld.

Married 21 Sep 1876 in Brisbane and no sign of a newspaper notice.

Death 1909/C01441 Wylie Isabella - John Wallace - Isabella [maiden name unknown]

The Brisbane Courier (Qld. : 1864 - 1933) - Tuesday 8 June 1909 p.4
DEATHS
WYLIE.-On the 27th May, 1909, at Chillagoe, Mrs. James Malcolm, aged 62 years.

One tree says her parents are William WALLACE and Isabella BORLAND and if that is correct her death reg with father = John is an error. This would be the marriage but I can't find a birth/baptism anywhere for Isabella.

groom's name: William Wallace
groom's birth date:

bride's previous husband's name:
indexing project (batch) number: M11593-4
system origin: Scotland-ODM
source film number: 1041377
reference number:

The birth reg for the children have her name as Isabella (maiden name WALLACE). The death reg for one son has her name as Isabella Carey but that is not clear if it's a middle or maiden name because it says Mrs Isabel Carey WYLIE.

A son has the middle name Carey. Perhaps Carey is Isabella's middle name from her mother. If her death reg is correct then her parents could be John WALLACE and Isabel CAREY but that gets me nowhere.

I'm stuck. I can't find a birth for Isabella with either set of parents.

Regards,

Dave

this one is a little out date wise too but could be a baptism. But can't find her on the 51 census.

The one Julie found - the wife's maiden name was Berry and Isabella was born or baptised 1849 so def a possible. Do you know her dad's occupation Dave.
Don't quite see why we discount the one I found, do we know for sure the parents went abroad too? Wallace is quite a common name especially in Scotland.

Thanks Sharon, Barbara and Julie. :)

I'll have to refresh my memory on this one from January.

Sorry, but I have found nothing more in my notes. A marriage with no sign of a newspaper notice that probably would have mentioned parents and place of origin. A death reg with no mother's maiden name and an age at death. Some references to a middle name Carey. Some doubt cast by the author of a tree that her father is John. No info re father's occupation or place of origin.

Spouse James was from Largs, Ayr.

Children, some with more middle names than others:

James
Allan Malcolm
William Carey
Robert John Alex Lade

Hello Sharon,

Afraid at $37 it's not worth it for this one so far off a direct line.

Dave
