A daughter Isabella WALLACE born 1849 Galston, Ayr according to a tree but I can't find the birth. John, Isobel, and both daughters end up in Queensland. I don't have them in shipping records yet.

I'd like a look up for the family in 1851 please. I can't find them.

A real mystery. The death reg for Isabella (b. abt 1849) incorrectly lists her father as John WALLACE and mother as Isabella (no maiden name)

A half-sister. Well I don't think we have two different Isabella BORLANDs.

There is no sign of a birth/baptism to fit age of 8 months with first name starting with 'i' anywhere in Ayrshire. So is that the one born 10 June 1850? Did all the other children die before the 1851 census? So far I can't find any of the others.


Is it the same Isabella in post #1? Would she marry the 2nd time using her maiden name?

Is father = John on death reg an error?

Is it coincidence the WYLIE children have middle name Carey?

Birth reg for the children have mother = Isabella WALLACE.

Death reg have either 'Wallace' or 'Carey'. You can't tell from the index if Carey is a middle name or surname.

Possibly, after her mother remarried Isabella called herself Isabella Carey Wallace.

The Isabella in post #9 is not mine. Probably not the one in the census in post #12 either. Age is out and where are all the siblings in post #10, also the mother is Jean.

It seems there is no birth/baptism record for my Isabella. Several trees have her birth as 1848 Galston, Ayr but I'd say that was a guess just working from the marriage.

I'm no longer worried Isabella's death reg has father as John - her step-father anyway.

I still can't find the CAREYs and Isabella in shipping records.
