Hi Diane,

Seeing at one time he was living in the civil parish of Cheddar registration district Axminster. He could be one of these.

Birth registration

William Isgar year 1845 district Axminster Jul/Aug/Sep 1/4
William Isgar year 1846 district Axminster Jan/Feb/Mar 1/4

or

William Cooke Isgar year 1846 Jan/Feb/Mar 1/4 district Bridgewater

Assuming she died in Somerset this lady may be a possability.

Death registration.

Mary Ann Isgar born abt 1840 died 1870 Jul/Aug/Sept 1/4 district Axminster

Hi Julie,

Thank you so much for that. It's a good point about Cheddar. He always maintains on the census returns that he comes from Blagdon ?!

I'll look into what you given me. Thank you again.

Very best wishes
Diane

Hi again Julie,
I must thank you for bringing Mary Ann Isgar to my notice. I'm very fortunate enough to be in contact with another of William Isgar's great great grandaughters and we're working together. She's confirmed with an elderly relative that this is our Mary Jane as she purchased the death certificate many years ago and it was a mistake with the name. Mary J (or Mary A) looks to have died in childbirth as a baby Mary Ann was with her.
So, thank you again. A lesson in seeing the larger picture!!!
Very best wishes
Diane
