its a bit odd

for a long time on my husbands tree i looked for a rose elizabeth webb, but never found her. Then one rainy afternoon the penny finally dropped, but left me with another mystery.
rose elizabeth webb b. staffordshire 1873.
in 1894 she marries Squire Sowery in morpeth northumberland,he was also known as henry ??
in 1901 census returns she is in cowpen, blyth northumberland with her son george h sowery
then in april 1905 she remarries a charles s evans.got all of his details.
then the mystery, i found this.
1919 sowery george henry of blyth nothumberland
merchant seaman died 29th oct 1918 geneva switzerland
adminstration newcastle upon tyne
24th feb to rose evans wife of charles s evans
effects 100 pounds.
obviously she must have got divorced or something but why would he leave her all that money, she must have been quite poor as shes listed as a washerwoman. found some records of ships mr sowery was on as he is never listed with rose on any documents ive found. lot of money in those days. i wondered if it was some sort of compensation if he was lost at sea or something . anyone got any thoughts. suex
