I have finally found another record for John Bullivant Carscaden, if only his death in 1938. I lost all trace of the family after 1861 in Leeds till I found the mothers death in Hertfordshire in 1907. Now I've found his death but where is the rest of the family? There were 11 children and I have only 4 deaths recorded. I've tried everything but searches just give me lists and lists of Christians not a Carscaden or Carscoden in sight.

There seems to have been a strong irish connection with the name CARSCADEN.

If I have this correct and I recognise a bit of guess work John Bullivant Carscaden's father was William Richard Carscarden born 1824 Colcrain ireland and his mother Mary Robinson Bullivant born 1825 Torksey Lincolnshire, and married in 1844 Leeds
(name ties in nicely)

I have not found his 10 siblings but like many families there were childhood deaths Martha Ann 1853, Arthur 1861, Alizabeth 1863, Elizabeth 1864

As I mentioned there are several other Carscadens born in Ireland around in the 19th century so I wondered if for some reason he returned to Ireland and that is why there is no trace of him in the UK

There is a George Carscaden gettng into repeated trouble for larceny and I note he was in Leeds when jailed for 1 yr in 1857 and then 3 years in 1861 perhaps a brother ?

There are also 2 arriving in Southampton in 1914 Mrs C and Mr A ., widow and ? son, travelling from Indonesia with american citizenship

it is such a rare name that it would be relatively easy to do a one named study.

I did find the CARSEADEN spelling with a William marrying Elizabeth Spink in 1859 in Leeds and having a son Arthur in 1861. it is not clear if this is a second marriage for the William above or a different family all together

you probably know all of this but might be a little help if not

seasonal greetings

Thanks. There are Corscadens near Leeds but can't find any relationship to my family. I have seen the William Marriage but also don't know if he is a relation. William Richard Carscaden was a Linen Merchant who married Mary Robinson Bullivant in Leeds in Jun 1844. He seems to have been in Edinburgh training as a draper. He became bankcrupt but was back in business as a laceman. Then I lost the whole family. I found Mary's death in 1907 in Hertfordshire but haven't found her in the 1901 census, or the death of husband or any other children other than those that died in infancy in Children and John B. I have tried immigration to Australia New Zealand America and Canada. None have fitted. I've looked up Army records, nothing has come up. Browsers don't seem to come up with the name in Britain. J B was discovered by accident when looking someone else up.
