So now we have Eleanor's parents but we will be lucky to find her birth/baptism in Ireland but I'll look.

James will prove difficult being such a common name but I think more searching in TROVE might pick up the right one. Try and find him before 1854 and sort out his death.

Empire (Sydney, NSW : 1850 - 1875) - Tuesday 13 December 1853 p.1S
...
Dated this thirty-first day of Octobor, A.D., 1853.
SAMUEL FREDERICK MILFORD, Master in Equity.

That does not help much. James may have been in Sydney some time before he started working for the Supreme Court.

Yes, before Eleanor. She would have moved to Binda to a married daughter.

TROVE has updated. :)

Daughter Marcella married in Goulburn in 1860 and died there in 1920.

If Eleanor had been living with them why move to live with an older daughter at Binda?

Unless James and Eleanor retired to Goulburn.

I was searching using "james anderson" AND "clerk in equity" and it only returns one hit:

... Mrs. William Allingham, sen., third daughter of the late Mr. James Anderson, chief clerk in Equity, Supreme Court ...

We need the NSW E/R.

Very few available 1842 to 1902 and to be on the roll you had to be a land owner or similar.

One published for 1870-1871 and 1878-79.

Greville's Post Office Directory 1872
FURNER Owen storekeeper Sloane St. Goulburn

1870-71 and 1878-79 NSW Electoral Roll - Goulburn
FURNER Owen, Sloane-street, freehold, Goulburn

http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state...ng-aids/archives-in-brief/archives-in-brief-5

1843
Men (over 21 and British subjects) owning freehold property to a value exceeding £200, or householders occupying a dwelling house with an annual value exceeding £20. A man could vote in every electorate where he held the necessary property for at least six months.
