Only the film boxes are coloured.

The films in brown boxes are marked "Not to be Copied" meaning images not to be saved on USB. The library makes you take them to a reader that has no USB.

James Burcham and Mary Morris are characters in my book "The Campbelltown Convicts". Mary had married Burcham but later decided to go with John Champley my ancestor and former convict. It’s interesting to note that both Burcham and Morris had been sentenced to death in England for their crimes but were reprieved from their sentences on condition that they be transported to NSW.

Thanks Dave, The following is an extract from my book, "The Campbelltown Convicts:"

Mary Ann Burcham was born to James Burcham and Mary Morris on 22 September, 1816. She was baptised at Parramatta.

Mary Burcham married Richard Edward Hugo Cooper in Sydney in on 2 September, 1839. The couple had 11 children, of which seven married and had families. Anne Cooper, a descendant of Mary Ann Burcham and James Burcham, writes: ‘Richard was born in Newcastle on Tyne, Northumberland, England in 1812, to naval Captain Richard Edward Cooper & Elizabeth Hugo. Richard worked as a sailor & mate on a Whaling vessel “Nimrod” and by 1845 his occupation is noted as master mariner... In Sydney...he met & married Mary Ann Burcham in 1839 at St James Church (C of E) in Sydney...and their children were born there also. The family moved to Queensland & from our records lived both at Morton Island, where he worked as a sea pilot & then moved to a residence at Brisbane St at Bulimba in Brisbane. Bulimba is a riverside suburb & was the area where a lot of sailors lived.’

The couple lived in Balmain in Sydney before moving to Brisbane.
