This James Dodman, in an 1881 Eng. Census appears age 28, born abt. 1853.
St. Mary, Newington, Surrey, Eng. James was married to Martha Ann Fairclough. I do have their marriage license, but it is hardly readable. But their 1st son James J in 1881 is recorded as 8 yrs. old so est. his birth at 1873. I am guessing James & Martha were married May 18 1871/72.

On this 1881 census James 1853 has father James listed as 64 yrs. old, est.
his birth at 1817. I believe this James Dodman, is son of William Dodman born
1780 East Rudham & his spouse was Hannah ? This William Dodman is son of John Dodman & Alice Briant.

I am asking in this post for confirmation if this line - of - lineage is correct &
if so can a wife for James 1817 can be found + any siblings. A wife for William
Hannah, whom?

Happy Hunting - Jeff :D

Have found two marriages for a James Dodman in London, one to Caroline Leggett in 1839 and one to Eleanor Pinkstone in 1849. There were no marriages in Norfolk at that time. Both marriages have James father as Joseph a shop keeper.

Eh Amanda; Thanks for the quick reply. Everything is confirmed now as to what I have stated.

Amanda is it possible to link the father William Dodman as William born 1780
East Rudham. Son of John Dodman & Alice Briant.

In 1851 I have found this William living in Little Massingham age 71 yrs. old,
& still living here in 1861 81 yrs. old.

I also have possible siblings for James 1817, they are...
1. Thomas christened 23 Feb 1813 Massingham Barva, Norwich
2. Thomas " 7 Apr 1814 Little Massingham
3.Hannah " 15 Aug 1816 " "
4. * James " 12 Oct 1817 " "
5.Hannah " 2 Jul 1820 " "
6. Thomas " 28 Dec 1822 " "

Not sure if all are siblings Amanda but, all are listed for William & Hannah.

Happy Hunting - Jeff:2 fun: Thanks Again Amanda :D

Just saw your last post Amanda - William married to Hannah Curtis are not my ancesters. Hannah Curtis is not in my family tree. You can rule them out.

The only marriage I found was to Hannah Curtis, but there is a marriage on FMP in 1809 although I can't see the details because I don't have a sub. May be someone else on here could help you with that.

What I have found out about James, this may be a shocker!!!!!
James appears in an 1841 Eng. Census, as Janice, father William, mother Hannah Curtis. Father of William was James and mother was Sarah.

Spouse for James I found as Sophia. James and Sophia get married in England, probably, Little Massingham, Norfolk, is only a guess since I did not search this. While " STILL " in England James and Sophia had the following two or three children. Clara born 1849, Eng., Emily born 1849, Eng., Laura born 1855, Eng. From this point after the birth of Laura 1855 and, until the birth of their next son Frederick J born 1858, they are in Ontario, Canada. Son Charles Walter was born 1860 Ontario, Canada, daughter Amelia Rymal was born 1867, Ontario, Canada.

This family settles in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. 1871 Canada Census shows, this family appearing in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

In closing on this topic, it has not been confirmed that, William Dodman and Hannah Curtis, are ancestors, in my " Line-Of-Lineage Or Not!!!!!! "

I found a marriage for Frederick J Dodman Oct 6/1885, in Hamilton, Ontario. Not knowing whom he was, lead me to find this information.
Although not searched either, I would say James and Sophia ( Mitchel ) ? Died Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
