My name is Victor and I found this site by accident.
I have been researching my family for a few months and find it interesting but expensive (ba humbug).
I have hit a brick wall with my great grandfather on my grandmothers side.

Census: 1901
Name: James HARRISS
b: abt 1869
Where born: Sandburgh Road, Holloway, London

I have been in touch with Heritage Officer, Islington Local History Centre,
Finsbury Library.
They say that there is no Sandburgh Road but there is a Sonderberg Road.

So at this moment I am at a loss.:)

Re: Hello, let me introduce myself.....

I have the 1911 Census for Beatrice Matilda Great (NEAL, HARRISS nee MITCHELL).
I have a marriage certificate for my grandmother Beatrice Mary for 1924 and by then James Harriss is dead.
the 1911 Census info states that the last child born to BMH and JH was Benjamine Harriss 1907.

the 1911 census info states that Beatrice Matilda Great and Edward Great were married for 2 years. So I anssume that JH must be dead.

I am unable to locate a marriage cert for:
Edward Great - Beatrice Matilda Great
James Harriss - Beatrice Matilda Harriss

No Birth Cert for James Harriss

I wonder if you can't find the marriages of Beatrice Harriss to Edward Great and Beatrice Neal to James Harriss is because there wasn't one

It could be that James Harris married an Eliza Hinson in Sep 1890 in Islington, on 1891 census RG12-155-67-71, James being born Barnsbury (in the district of Islington around the Holloway/Hornsey area). He is recorded as 24, a car man

We know Beatrice was married to George Neal so did she and James both leave their respective partners to live together without a divorce

In all honesty, I would purchase this cert, and see where/what address he was born at.

Possible birth reg.

James Edward Harris
Jan-Feb-Mar 1869
Registration district: Islington
Inferred County: London
Volume: 1b
Page: 342

'Holloway is an inner-city district in the London Borough of Islington located 3.8 miles (6.1 km) north of Charing Cross and follows for the most part, the line of the Holloway Road (A1 road)'.

But, it's your money.:(

Oh, and Sonderburgh Road(Hornsey) is just off the Holloway Road. The baptism I gave you was from St.Mary's, Hornsey Rise, Islington.

Also:

Amelia Rainbow Harris
Baptism - 31 Jan 1869 Born - (9 Nov 1866).
Father - William Miles Harris. Occ. Plasterer.
Mother - Amelia Harris
Parish or Poor Law Union: Hornsey Rise
Borough: Islington
